Photo Competition Terms and Conditions

Entry requirements
  1. All entries must be made online via the PGG Wrightson website: If a person does not have access to the internet or an email address, an application for an exception can be made to PGG Wrightson’s Events and Sponsorship Coordinator Alyshia Wallis, 03 372 0952 or email
  2. There is a maximum of two entries per person into the General Competition, and a maximum of one entry into the People’s Choice Award.
  3. All entrants must be over 18 years of age.
  4. Employees and contractors, and their immediate families, of PGG Wrightson Ltd (the promoter), its associated companies and advertising agencies are ineligible to enter.
  5. Entry into the competition is deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions.
  6. Entries cannot have been published or submitted previously.
  7. Entries must be the original work of the individual entering the competition. You may not enter the competition on behalf of another person.
  8. The competition is open to all amateur photographers only. An amateur photographer is defined as someone who engages in photography as a pastime/hobby rather than a profession and does not earn more than 10% of their income from photography.
  9. Entries cannot be entered into any other competition until the outcome of this competition is known. Winning entries may not be submitted in any other competition.
  10. The competition is open to New Zealand residents and citizens only.
  11. All entries must be captured in an agriculture/rural environment within New Zealand.
  12. There are two options for entries – either the People’s Choice Award (entries must be submitted by 1 May 2016 as per clause 41), or the General Competition where each entry must be entered into ONE of the following categories (entries must be submitted by 30 June 2016 as per condition 42):

    • A Land of Many Acres
    • The Faces of Farming
    • From the Ground Up
    • Perfect Partners
    • It's a Dog's Life
  1. Only original entries will be accepted (no photocopies or scans).
  2. All entries must be landscape-oriented, colour images.
  3. All entries must be suitable for high quality print production.
  4. A low quality entry may be submitted online to enable ease of upload; however a high quality version must be available for final judging.
  5. If an entrant cannot supply a high quality file and the original entry is too poor a quality for high-resolution printing, that entry will be deemed ineligible to progress to final judging.
  6. Entries must not be computer manipulated in any way.
Prize Information
  1. Twelve winners will be selected by a judging panel and displayed on the 2016 PGG Wrightson calendar.
  2. The twelve winners will receive a $500 (incl GST) PGG Wrightson voucher.
  3. The supreme winner will be selected from the top twelve winners in the General Competition and will also receive a $1,500 Prezzy card.
  4. The People’s Choice Award voting will take place online and at the NZ National Agricultural Fieldays on the PGG Wrightson site. Voting will begin on 15 June 2016. The PGG Wrightson judging panel will select a number of finalists to be eligible for this Award, and these images will be uploaded to the PGG Wrightson website:, and on display at the Fieldays. Voters will be able vote online for their favourite People’s Choice candidate and on site at the Fieldays. Maximum of one vote per person. The People’s Choice Award winner will be the entry that receives the highest number of votes and will be displayed on the cover of the 2017 PGG Wrightson calendar.
  5. The People’s Choice Award winner will receive a $500 Prezzy® card.
  6. The winners will be notified by telephone or email. Inability to contact the winner within thirty days of selection will result in the prize being forfeited. An alternative finalist entry will be selected to receive the prize and be included in the 2017 PGG Wrightson calendar.
  7. The winners consent to their name and photo being used for public relations purposes relating to this promotion.
  8. The judging panel’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  9. The prizes are not exchangeable or transferable except as expressly stated.
  10. The prizes are subject to availability and may differ to the prizes specified. If the exact prize is not available, a prize to a similar value and specification will be awarded instead.
  11. The prize will only be delivered in New Zealand. The winner should allow 28 days from notification for delivery. In the event that the winner is a New Zealand citizen currently located overseas, the winner must supply a New Zealand address for the prize to be delivered to.
  12. Prior to receiving the prizes, the winners may be required to show proof of identity, for example, their passport or driver’s licence.
Storage and Consent
  1. PGG Wrightson reserves the right to store electronically any entries submitted by entrants and to use the winning and all other entries free of charge in any of its online and print publications for a period of ten years, noting that once printed images are permanent.
  2. PGG Wrightson and the photographer will jointly own the copyright of any submitted entries.
  3. Any persons photographed in an entry must have given consent to be photographed and the appropriate written consent documentation completed in full and provided to PGG Wrightson.
  4. Any persons photographed in an entry who are under the age of 18 must have the appropriate written consent documentation completed in full by their parent/guardian and provided to PGG Wrightson.
  5. Any property photographed in an entry must have the consent of the property owner and the appropriate written consent documentation completed in full and provided to PGG Wrightson. Property that is unrecognisable in the entry (e.g. an extreme close up or an aerial view of many properties) does not require consent. Photographs taken of public property do not require consent but an address must be provided. PGG Wrightson reserves the right to establish whether or not consent is required.
  6. Failure to provide documentation of consent for photographed persons or property will deem the entry ineligible for final judging.
  7. All winning entries will be used in the 2017 PGG Wrightson calendar, and may be used in other promotional material. The photographer gives their permission for all entries to be used.
  8. All entries submitted will be visible on the website for all entrants to view in a photo gallery which will show a random selection of entries.
  1. PGG Wrightson is not responsible for entries that go astray.
  2. If an entrant fails to adequately fill out the entry form and/or submit an entry, it will not be accepted into the competition.
  3. All entries for the People’s Choice Award must be received no later than 5pm 1 May 2016. All completed consent documentation must be received no later than 5pm Monday 6 May 2015.
  4. All entries for the General Competition must be received no later than 5pm 30 June 2016. All completed consent documentation must be received no later than 5pm 8 July 2016.
  5. PGG Wrightson reserves the right to cancel or amend any aspect of the PGG Wrightson 2016 Photo Competition at any time, including prizes.
  6. Except for any liability that cannot be excluded by law, PGG Wrightson and its suppliers exclude all liability (including negligence), for any personal injury; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of this competition and any prizes.
  7. PGG Wrightson collects and holds participants’ personal information solely for the purpose of conducting this specific competition and will only use or disclose personal information in connection with this specific competition.
